United Methodist Men

The United Methodist men is just that...the MEN of Atascocita United Methodist Church.  We are leaders and supporters of various missions and ministries in the Church and in the community.  One of the special projects we are working on now is the Mobile Medical Clinic II.  Our container has been delivered and we will start to work as soon as materials and a work schedule can be arranged for.  See the Mobile Medical Clinic page for details and pictures of our efforts!

Day With the Astros

We are sponsoring a Day With the Astros on August 15th at 1:05pm.  All tickets will include admission plus all-you-can-drink sodas and water and all-you-can-eat nachos, peanuts, popcorn, and hot dogs.  Children's tickets (18 and under) are only $10 and adult tickets are $20.  This is a great opportunity for a family day at the ball park.

Note:  All of our tickets have been sold!  Tickets can be paid for and picked up from Jimmy Kotch in the Nartex after the 8:15 service, but before the 11 a.m. service on Aug. 15th.

Fall Schedule

MoMENtum weekly bible study meets each Monday at 6:30pm.  Meetings are held at Christophers near the intersection of Atascocita Rd. and Timber Forest Dr.  We meet monthly, usually on the 3rd Tuesday in the Narthex for a business meeting with a short devotional over desert and coffee.  Our next monthly meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, March 16, 2010.

Golf Tournament

Our primary fund-raising activity is the Annual Golf Tournament.  The proceeds from our 2010 event amounted to $12,800.  Since 1995 we have realized $123,140 from the tournaments held in those years. 

Our 2010 Golf Tournament was held at the Walden Country Club on Monday, May 10.  The net proceeds  were distributed to HAAM, 3-H Service Center, AUMC U.M. Army, and the Methodist Men Ministries.

Support Our Military Personnel

The Methodist Men of AUMC are happy to report to the congregation that a total of $1,242.00 was collected for the project to send the daily devotional book, Strength for Service to God and Country, to American servicemen and women who are deployed around the world and are in harms way as they defend this great nation! 

Methodist Men have received their order for 215 books from Cokesbury in Nashville, Tennessee.  From this shipment, 175 books will be sent to American service personnel overseas in Afghanistan, 23 books will be sent to service personnel who are a part of the AUMC family, and 17 books will be distributed to those of you who have, or will have, ordered books from us.  Our books were purchased at a wholesale price of $4.79 each.  (For those of you who would like to purchase a book(s) for distribution to someone who is a friend in the Armed Services or is a medical responder in this country, you may order from the following address given below - cost:  $7.00).

The national United Methodist Men’s goal is to distribute 1 Million copies to our Military Men & Women.  Your support of this vital national outreach will send the word of God to those who are currently serving in the Armed Forces.
