Children/Youth Music Programs

Here at AUMC we have several opportunities for our children and youth to be involved in music ministries.  Take time to look at these ministries below and to find a ministry right for you!

 

"Sensational" Sundays

Sensational Sundays are lead by Diane West and Courtney Paul.  Parent volunteers are needed to assist with the children.

Cherub Choir   4:00pm - 4:30pm (Ages 2, 3 & 4 with adult friend)birds
   A music ministry for our little ones and an adult friend where they will enjoy singing songs of praise, moving to music, and learning musical concepts all at the same time!  This program includes the nationally known Musikgarten program "God's Chhildren Sing."  Diane West leads this class.

Joyful Sounds  4:30pm - 5:30pm (K - 2nd grade)choir
   This is a fun filled hour of playing instruments, singing, and learning to read music through activities and movement. Children will learn to be leaders in the church when they sing and play their instruments for worship several times a year.  Directors are Diane West, Jennifer Ellis, Diane Go, and Courtnay Paul.

Music Makers  4:30pm - 5:30pm (3rd - 5th grade)instruments
   Great musical experiences will take place as they sing, play musical instruments, and learn to read music. Children will share their music in worship several times through out the year and in the community.  Directors are Diane West, Jennifer Ellis, Diane Go, and Courtnay Paul.

Ukulele 5:30pm - 6:00pm

 

"Wow" Wednesdays

Sonshine Kids  4:00pm - 5:30pm (4 yrs. - 5th grade)sonshine
    A fun filled afternoon where children will be engaged in snacks, craft projects, be part of a mission project, and rehearse for the musical.  They will end each week with a devotional.  Contact Beth Johnson for more information.

Singing and Strumming  (6th - 12th grades)
5:30pm - 6:15pm - guitar, beginning and intermediate
6:16pm - 6:45pm - choral singing/vocal pedagogy

    We will be learning singing techniques, harmony singing, and how to read music as we prepare music for worship services and in the community throughout the year.  Time will be spent each week learning basic beginning guitar as a means of accompanying our singing on many of the songs we learn.  Butch Javelina will be teaching guitar with John Reagan assisting.
