AUMC Youth Basketball

Youth Basketball will start up again on Wednesday, January 6th from 7:00pm to 8:30pm. Even if you have not joined us yet, you are welcomed to come and be a part of the team.  This is open to all youth (6th-12th) and college students.  The registration cost is $20 for supplies and t-shirt.  You can register directly with Susan Sanders.

Volunteer Opportunities

Guest Information Center - The Guest Information Center is located in the center of the Narthex in front of the Hospitality Bar.  If you would like to help with this ministry of extravagant hospitality, SEND YOUR preferred VOLUNTEER SUNDAY AND TIME along with your email and current home phone and cell phones so we can plug you into our rotating schedule.  Volunteers are just asked to pick one Sunday a month at a specific time to serve.  Contact Ginny Gilbert (281-852-6269 or 713-502-5429) or Gayle Fuller (281-324-2031).

Evangelism ministry is looking for persons to deliver gift baskets to church visitors on Sunday afternoon.  Contact Kristin Watts at 281-852-1000.

Join the Music Ministries here at AUMC and use your talents to lead worship for all three services 8:15, 9:30, and 11:00 am. 

Music Library information needs to be updated to a database system.  If you can help by inputting information into a computer data base program, please contact Diane West at 281-852-1000.

Our Media, Sound, and Light ministries needs your help.  We will train and equip you to help out as a sound or video tech.  Please contact Diane West at 281-852-1000.

Community Bulletin Board needs volunteer(s) to update the board with newspaper clippings regarding members active in the community.  Contact Susie Crafton @ 281-852-1000.

Volunteer opportunities needed for Children's Ministry.  Please contact Beth Johnson - 281-852-1000:
• Children's Ministry Greeters at 9:30am (Main building & Life Center) &
  11:00am (Main building only). 15 minute commitment before services and
  Sunday School times.
• Power UP! Specials teachers at 9:30am to teach pre-planned lessons in
  art, games, science and cooking. 30 minute time commitment during
  9:30am Sunday School.
• Big Believers Sunday School teachers at 11:00am on the 3rd & 4th
  Sundays of the month.  Prepared lessons are easy to execute!  1 hour
  time commitment during the 11:00am Sunday School Worship hour.

Flamingos

The Flamingo Squad is still going strong at AUMC.  You will be able to surprise your friends, family members and neighbors with a visit from the AUMC Flamingo Squad.  They can enjoy these brightly colored brds in their yard for two days to help them celebrate a birthday, anniversary, new job, just because, praying for them or any other reason you can think of.  The cost will be $20 per a visit for the flamingos (a 2 day stay), a sign, and a card they will keep commemorating this surprise.  The birds will stay around as long as you keep wanting to surprise your friends and loved ones.  These proceeds are going towards missions and the 2009 Youth Mission Trip.  Contact Susan Sanders for additional information.

Overeaters Anonymous

Overeaters Anonymous meetings are open to anyone with a desire to quit eating compulsively.  Twice weekly meetings are held at the church on Tuesdays @ 7:00pm in Room L4 and Thursdays @ Noon in the Sanctuary.  Members of the community are welcome.

Power UP!

An easy and fun way to serve the Lord is to become a children's greeter for Power UP! Sunday School.  This easy job only requires a smile and a cheery personality.  God created us and surely He allowed for a beautiful smile and a cheery disposition in all His children (young and old).  Thank you to all those who have already expressed interest in helping in Children's ministry.

The Prayer of the Heart is Practicing the Presence of God

Have you ever thought about spending time in the Prayer Room (A105)?  Would you carve out a little time to pray for others?  No pre-requisites required!

The Prayer of the Heart is practicing the presence of God.  The process moves us out of our heads with all of the planning, contriving, and managing into our heart where we are slowly led to an experience of rest that opens us to God's presence.

The Prayer of the Heart is a prayer of being, not doing.  We become more present to God as our awareness is raised.  We are also more present to ourselves, others, and to the world around us.

Come and pray five or ten minutes before a Sunday worship service or anytime during the week.
